A deacon stole is a liturgical vestment, a long, narrow strip of cloth worn by deacons in Christian denominations, particularly the Catholic ChurchAnglican Church, and Lutheran Church. It symbolizes the deacon's role as a servant of the church and is worn during religious ceremonies and services. Unlike a priest's stole, which hangs straight down from both shoulders, a deacon's stole is worn diagonally, over the left shoulder and across the chest, fastened at the right side. This distinctive style signifies the deacon's unique ministry and service.
